My Granddaughter Brings Back Memories

x Get Well Seren x

My dear, sweet granddaughter, Seren, has chicken pox. She is five months old and still smiling. The virus is not affecting her at the present time. She is enjoying finding out new flavours from real, home-cooked food. Yes she is weaning. I remember being sprayed with chocolate pudding when the raspberry blowing kicked in with my three. Seren was blowing raspberries to us on Skype. The laptops on both sides of the ocean were getting sprayed when DH blew them back.

The chicken pox has brought back memories of the day we were moving into our last home in the late 80's. All was packed and ready to go. The van, DH and friend were loading it up when our son complained of feeling warm and off-colour. We wondered if he was over excited or nervous about moving to a new school/neighbourhood. He was seven years old. A few moments later our eldest daughter complained of the same, and started scratching her chest. Sure enough, the youngest daughter joined in with the other two about an hour later. Things weren't going well, we needed their beds on the truck!

Two hours later I arrived at the new house with three spotty children, and made a frantic call to my mother-in-law who lived a short distance away from our new home. She kindly jumped on the local bus and arrived armed with calamine lotion and a stack of sweet goodies. I got on with the business of moving home and she read them to sleep, and made drinks as and when required. All in all it was an adventurous day, and the first things into the house were three beds and an armchair for Nanny.

Oh the memories, now my granddaughter is making them for her parents.
