For running it is important that the foot is encased and supported by quality materials. For general walking my sandals need to be nonslip, soft and the toe-posts on the thong sandals must not rub between my toes! I have wasted money in the past by having to give up on a pair of sandals. Now I stick with the brands I know. Having a weakened back and knee from accidents, I need good support, and I need it longterm. I do not want to have my shoes let me down after a few weeks. Again, buying good quality, the correct size and style is important.
